Y-block ID help
I just bought a 53 F-750, and I am not sure of which motor it is. I have the vin, but can't find a website that shows the vin breakdown of the F-700 and larger. They all seem to nly cover up to the F-600. any how, the vin is as follows:
F75J3H18004
If any one can please help me, that would be wonderful. I do know that it is the original engine, and it only has 6874.5 original miles.

hello; yes the 63 f-700 would have been a 292, but the 53 f-750 was either the 279 or the 317 linc. based motor. the linc. motor is easy to identify by the two ribbs on either side of the bolts on the valve covers, also they had side by side ports instead of stacked like the 292's. if it's an overhead v-8, 53 and older would have to be a linc. based motor, they didn't come out with the ford y-block untill 54. hope this helps, wayne.
