SD? HD? Looking at 2000 F250

I went and looked at a 2000 F250 PS Ext Cab 4x4 with extra leafs on the front and rear leafs springs, and seems lifted more than most F250's. It has cruise, am/fm cd/casset player, alloy wheels, PW, PL, tilt wheel, AC, the entire shabang!! Front axle was solid, not like the TTB on my 86 4x4. Is this actually a 1 ton truck?
There is a small 800 dollar dent in the rear fender, heavy grill guard, large tool box in bet, flip-over gooseneck ball in bed, box end reciever hitch, auxillary brake, 3 differant trailer hook-ups, and it has 144,000 miles on it. Oh, and the shift on the fly 4x4. That's new to me!! It runs great. 4x4 worked. I couldn't really tell if it went into 4wd lo.
Guy is asking 13000.00 for truck. Is this a good, fair, or great price? Is it a HD, SD, or what? GVW was I think 8800lbs??
Vin#3F10NX21F4YMA39165
158 wheel base
22 int trim
K under the R
9 under the TR
This all was on the door sticker.
Seemed to be geared high?? couldn't find numbers on rearend tag. Getting dark!!
Could some one fill me in on what they know about this truck? I'm new to the Powerstroke and superduty trucks? I have a roofing biz and need the 4x4 and heavy towing/hauling capabilities!!!! Not to mention my mouth was watering when test driving it, and had chills when I stood on it and heard the whine from under the hood!!!!!
Thanks

Well, not really but there is virtually no difference between a 250 vs. 350. Check the FAQ for all the differences. How do you know you have an EXTRA leaf up front?
[quote]I couldn't really tell if it went into 4wd lo./[quote] You gotta shift into neutral to get into 4LO. You should know if you are in 4LO.

Price sounds reasonable. It is a SUPER DUTY. GVWR @ 8800# sounds right.

The only choice from the factory was 3.73.
The FAQ has tons of info on that year truck. Check it out!

The truck was assembled in Mexico.

This is the radio code. It's a AM/FM/CD/Cassette made for Ford by Pioneer. Excellent FM reception but these units sometimes have the display burn out due to a defective powersupply inside the radio. It is fixable for about $100. Much better radio than the 2002 and up units which were made by Alpine.

Transmission code. It has the 4R100, four speed automatic.

The transmission has to be in neutral in order to shift into 4Lo, it will not shift when in park. When it shifts into low range you will see "Low Range" illuminate on the instrument panel above the "4X4" which is already on.
Maximum rated trailer weight for the 2000 model is 10,000 lbs on the platform hitch and 13,200 lbs with a gooseneck/5'er.

Thanks guys!!! I'll deffinatly have to check out the Faq on this one. I would prefer a 4 door and a 5spd, but it hasn't been easy to locate one in my price range around here. Most PS's under 150,000 miles are over 15,000 around here, in 4wd anyway, and that's a must for me!! Stuck at the dump or in BFE after a good hunt just sucks!!
Any tips on getting better milage or Hp out of this truck?? High teens would be great if possible??

That sounds like a good price. I looked for over 6 months for a PSD or V-10, The best I found for a PSD was $16k for a 1999. That was last Junuary. If everything else is good you might have a good deal. Check carfax to make sure it doesn't have an accident history,,,, Good luck with it........

Bank says trade in on this truck is 16,500.00
Wife says I really don't need it. So I told her she didn't need the 500.00 dog, the new house, or to go see her mother every weekend either!! I'm either getting the truck or sleeping with the dog???? Not sure yet??
Bank doesn't take into consideration the 400.00 grill guard, 350.00 toolbox, or the 300.00 hide away goose neck hitch either.
I did notice the tires are smaller than what came on the truck originally. Why would that be? Would smaller tires make the 3.73 gears taller? Or would a larger tire help towing?
