Lightbulb Any electric company linemen out there?

Just wondering... I work for Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative in Hernando County, FL. I've only been doing it a year, but I absolutley love my job! I was just curious as to how many linemen (or women!) visit FTE. Thanks for responding and keep up the good work!

Withlacoochee River, Florida

Hey lectricman,

I haven't heard of the With. River in a long time. A lot of people in FL don't even know about that part of the state. Visited my folks down there lots, they lived in Lacoochie (?) which is about 2 miles south of route 50 and 7-8 miles above Dade City. Their home used to be right near the bridge that crosses that river. Spent a lot of evenings up at the Lighthouse Bar. Don't even know if its still there. Nice little community, lot of friendly locals.

I bet Hernando has grown a lot, I guess Brooksville is still the biggest town around. Really enjoyed cruising on my old Beemer bike in that area. Lot of good quiet roads then.

Nice to hear about the old neighborhood. Jim

My old stomping grounds. Went to high school there before college in G'Ville.

Just make sure it's grounded before you touch it!

I worked for Manitoba Hydro up in Canada this summer, wasn't a lineman, I worked in a dam but was a member of IBEW.

I worked 7 years as a crane operator for a public electrical utility. Worked with the sparkies daily, putting up the BIG transmission poles and towers, setting transformers, building sub-stations, etc., but climb a pole? NOT a chance!

I've been zapped many times.

Does that count?

I'm a military electrician...I specialize in low voltage, but am qualified, and have worked with high voltage...although most of our stuff is underground, I do ocosioannly have to climb a pole or two...
