sub box in an ext cab
I just bought a 1992 F150 extended cab. I plan on just putting a cd player in it for now and calling it a day but you know how that goes. I may consider throwing in a sub as well but where to put it is the question? Anybody have and subs in and similar year ext cabs? The back of the rear seat is right against the back of the cab and the bottom of the seat goes right to the floor.

subs
you can get a enclosure made so the seat bottom is attatched to the top of the box you can fit up to 2 10 inch subs in it depending on the formula for your truck and also mount the amps in the box so the more you use the cooler it gets they also can make your seats out od accoustic material so the base fires right through them either way just go and ask a best buy or circuit city about it and they will show you or u can buy a box custom built and installed for bout 200 bucks capreted n everything with a nice warranty i have this in mybronco right now works well good luck dan

I have one 12 under the rear seat in my 97. We did away with the frame work and mounted the seats to the box. The design seems to work pretty well, you just need to find a way to secure the box to the floor for safety reasons. We are in that process right now since we just built the box. As stated above, there are a lot of ways that you can accomplish this, just look fot the best fit for you. Holler if you have any other questions.

I was considering buying your year of truck before I found my 99. What I was going to do had I gotten the 95 I was looking at was sacrifice the center rear seat and build a sub box/center console that sat on the floor. The center seat would no longer have leg room, but you could fit a 10" or a 12" sub in there plus you could put cup holders and such on the top of the box for your rear seat passengers.

Ford hasn't left you with many options for a sub in the extended cab, especially if you want complete function of the back seat or a factory look. If you have bucket seats in the front, you can build a box that will elevate the center console about 6 inches (just lower than the factory armrests). This gives you enough room to build an enclosure for a 10" or 8". If you plan it out and take your time you can make it all look pretty close to something from the factory, especially if you encorperate cupholders or map pockets into the enclosure, and cover it with the same color carpet as the floor.
If you are really fiberglass savy, you could mold the enclosure right into the console and then it would essentially be one piece. There are some other options, but the rest require extensive modification and fabrication. I am currently in the process of building an complete stereo including an enclosure for my 1994 f250 extended cab at my shop. When it is complete, I will post some pictures.
