Pie Frd04-aux

I received the PIE interface this week and installed it today. That thing rocks!!! I was using the FM transmitter to listen to my Ipod. The FM transmitter would fade and the audio was not real good. The PIE unit went in real easy (thanks to the instruction on the dash removal that
I got here) and sounds great. It's a little pricey IMHO but so far it's worth it.

I received my adaper also. How hard was it to pull the dash? I will also install a power adapter that eliminates the cigarette lighter adapter.

The dash was real easy, just take it slow. There were several connectors that needed to be unplugged. A couple were a total PITA. I mounted mine on the back of the little compartment that is on the lower part of the dash. It works great and is out of the way. My Ipod sounds 100% better than using the FM adapter. Somewhere on this forum there is a post with pics on how to remove the dash.

Here is the link for the dash removal; http://www.richgann.com/radioremoval.pdf

A user called South_Paw sent it to me.

Thanks for the link. I had a PIE adapter in my '03 S'crew for my XM radio. It is WAY better than the FM modulator.

I did the install today. Took about 30 minutes. The PIE adapter is much better than the FM modulator.

I installed the P.I.E. adapter in my '05 SD this weekend and WOW, an eight gazillion percent improvement on the sound quality from my XM Roady 2 receiver. I mash the AUX button on my factory 6-disc changer and enjoy the results. It took about one hour to perform and the results are better than I could have imagined. A must have component for any FM modulated sound source. I hardwired a cig. lighter socket under the steering wheel for power to the XM. The socket is coonected and powered from the Ford radio power wired controlled by the key switch (pink wire). The XM continues to play as the radio does after the key switch is turned off until the door is opened.

A better solution is to buy a power module that gets rid of the cig adapter all together. You can find them at the XM store. This module plugs into the Roady 2 power port and is wired to a hot wire and ground. You get rid of the clunky cig adapter.

one word AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a difference instead of the modulator a must have. I found them selling on ebay for $74.00 shipping included for buy it now. That is the cheapest I found. get rid of the cig lighter. Buy an add a fuse, cut off the cig adapter and it works great. no one knows I even have sat radio in my 350

I love the PIE FRD-04 adapter as well in my '05 F-150 SCrew. I'm actually surprised that I was able to have this adapter installed with the cell phone handsfree running thru the same head unit without messing each other up.

I keep seeing mentions of this adapter used with the factory _6-Disc_ stereo...how about the single CD stereo? Mine is a 04 XLT with the Aux button....will this work the same for me? I just got a video iPod and I want to hook it up!!

Well I just read PIE's website; apparently it's compatible? Suppose now that I'm just wondering if anyone with my radio has done this...

It will work if yours is the 6 disc changer and has the aux button. I'm not sure about the single disc. If you get the serial number off of your radio and email PIE they will tell you which adapter is compatable.

Here is the website with all of the Ford Aux converters;
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/logjam/auxford.html

Maybe the frd03 aux????

My '05 is the combo single cd/cassette unit with the AUX button, and it works great with both the PIE adapter and the cellphone handsfree harness and interface.
