My friends 97 F-150 deployed both airbags in an accident. He replaced both air bags but is afraid to plug in the connectors as they show 12volts. He's afraid they might deploy when he does. Is there a reset the dealer needs to do or something else we're missing?

Welcome to FTE
Where were the repairs done? Did they replace the crash sensors? I wouldn't mess the airbags, take it to the dealer.
He's taking it to the dealer with reservations. Seems they've already done some bonehead things in the past. But even bodyshops leave this one to the dealer.
The battery should be disconnected and if not disconnect the battery there should not be 12 volts with bat disconnected. As I recall in the manual it tells you how to reconnect them.
