Headlight bulbs but won't hurt truck?

So I'd like to upgrade my bulbs in the headlights for a bit more light. I've heard awsome things about the slyvania silverstars but I've also heard of ford trucks burning up the wires when they're put in. Anything else thats a good bulb but won't burn?

My 93 F150 & 98 Taurus Drove for years with Silverstars and no probs. My current truck a 97 F250 4x - and my wife's 97 Expy E.B. were just upgraded with the Silverstars today.

I too would be interested to hear if anyone had issues - and will certainly post if the wiring burns up in either of ours.

Not heard of anyone having problems w/ Silverstars. I have heard of problems w/ HID bulbs using stock wiring.

I've been running the Silverstars for a couple of months now. No problems. Of course my headlights are so yellowed that I can't notice a difference between them and normal bulbs. That will change, I have some diamond cut euros on the way.

I have the Sylvania HID Xenarc headlights in my truck and they are very very nice and well worth the money. I have a 4000K HID kit in my factory fog lights too and no problems at all. Very very bright as well. 02 F-150 SC

Never heard of problem with the changing to brighter lights. Used them for years. I would suspect if someone did then it would probaly mean they had bad or corroded wires to begine with.

Well the only way they could hurt it is if the bulb got too hot and melted the housing or if the power for the light was too much for the factory wiring harness-I always fuse all my add-ons just to be safe. Like I said, I run the high-temp HID's with no problems. You would probably be safe to use just about anything.

I have been using the Silverstar lights in both of my vehicles (01 F150 sc and 01 Olds Sillohette) for over a year now and no problems. I am glad that I put them in, well worth the extra cost.

I've had the silverstars in my Expy for almost three years. All is well.

Headlights are good...but is there a bulb for the factory fog lights that would make them brighter and actually useable? I don't want to change the whole light out, just the bulb.

Put a 9007 in it - you gotta work to make it go but it will fit. Its a lot brighter than the stock 9145. If you really want bright ones get Silverstar bulbs.
