Thought I'd bring this back up.... I suppose gas is relatively the same price around Iowa, but what's up with diesel???
Here's what I saw this morning at a Fly'n J
Gas 2.22
Diesel 3.26
Does this mean the pizza delivery (gas vechile) fuel surcharge will go away? or will they come up with a diesel Escort and double it for that money making deal?

I read in the news that a couple of the refineries still off-line are mainly diesel producers, so the limited supply is keeping the price up.

BTW they tried with gas and consumption dropped dramatically over the labor day weekend on gas but they noticed that diesel didn't drop. Why? because the vast majority of purchaserers of diesel are not using it as a discretionary expense but rather have to have it to deliver the food you eat, the clothes you are wearing, the funiture your sitting on etc, etc including the gas you do buy so they know that as long as the american economy isn't at a dead standstill they can get away with chargiing whatever they want and will get it up to the time tha tthe rest of the economy tanks so bad it will make the stock market crash of 29 look like a speed bump, and tens of millions of people are unemployed but thats ok with the oil execs cause they will be that much richer, and will be able to get anything they want.
Sorry I believe in the market driven economy up to the time that one segment of the economy can destroy the rest of hte country just to pad thier pockets at which time I feel it is time to regulate them on what they can charge just like utilities are regulated, and in this case I feel that criminal prosecutions are warrented. And yes I have called my senator with this, and suggest others do the same before a gallon of milk costs you $25, and your taxes go up to 80% becuase half the people in the country aren't paying taxes anymore and are instead collecting unemployment.

i read on the internet how the oil companies are in for a pr nightmare when they release their quarterly statements with unbelievable profits somewhere in the mid 40% . they just cant get to the bank fast enough.i hope they do an investigation but everthing will be swept under the rug with no evidence of gouging.in the wake of the recent tragidies theres no reason for them to rape the public like they do.diesel at the kwick starr in clinton was 3.29 last night ouch ,maybe more tonight.fueled up sunday night there and it was 3.12.put in a little over 200 gallons and almost 700 dollars
