Trouble is they only let you use a 22 rimfire pistol or what they call bangsticks and you have to put the pistol or bangstick snug against the back of their skull and shoot. By the time you kill them they are pretty ticked because the acceptable means of catching them is snagging them with a treble hook on a rope which they will get tangled in when they go in a deathroll. Then you pull them to boat. Only after you get them secured to the boat can you kill them. On a positive note after you get them secured you can pin their mouth shut with a rope looped on a pole. That is why I could never get anyone to go alligator hunting. Call me crazy if you want but it sounds like fun to me.
i would definatly go if i lived a little closer to ya, but the logistics are impractical. it does sound like a lot of run, and i wouldnt mind wraslin a pint sized gator one on one with a knive.
I just checked over the DNR site. The writing of the rules has definately changed since I read it a few years back. There is nothing any longer listed that you have to hunt as a group so I may get to go afterall. The licence fee is 50.00 limit one. They also took out the caliber limit on handguns so I can use my 357. It also states you can use arrows with a restraining line attached (guess that means I can use my crossbow). Sorry old87 they still won't let you use your rifle. Who knows maybe it will change for 2006. Here is a link to the info. http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/content/displaycontent.asp?txtDocument=280
Ain't nuthin wrong with the ramminator, that electroshock therapy can't help.
I'll donate some $ to the recovery effort.
Maybe this should be a " save the ramminator benefit event"
