Red face Vibration just before shifting

I am experiencing a vibration or shutter that occurs just before the down shifting. It occurs at higher speeds with the downshift from overdrive being the worst. If I am traveling about 60 mph and slowly accelerate just below the point of shifting, the transmission seems to vibrate until it shifts. I can make it last 4-5 seconds if I accelerate real slowly. I have checked the U-joint and have changed the transmission fluid. The vibration has been going on for about 20K miles and has not worsened. Any ideas???

what type of fluid do you install mercon V or reg,( it should say what to use on the dip stick) If you used reg and not mercon V it will cuase the problem. there is a addative they sell at NAPA to put the special properties in reg tranny fluid. I beleive they call it tourqe converter shutter and if not fixed will cause major problems. some one will chime in if I am wrong.

hope this helps

Right on - LubeGard makes a product called Instant Shudder Fix in a red tube and Oreillys sells it. Really common. Make sure the fluid was flushed when serviced - that will help a lot. LubeGard also sells a tranmission additive/protectant in a red bottle that improves the way yours transmission shifts.

Glad that got you taken care of. LubeGard makes exellent products - they also make a really good coolant additive as well that would be worth buying when you get the time.
