That really wasn't fair. Sorry. My experience with the canister is that if torquing the fittings to a reasonble level doesn't fix it, it's probably going to leak until the fittings are replaced and the tubing reflared. I suppose teflon muight help, or a wax type thread sealer, but the problem is probably in the condition of the tube and fittings.

Don't use TFE tape, a small piece would plug the restrictor if it came loose. I'd disassemble everything, clean carefully, look for nicks or a split flare, and re-assemble dry.
My flatty is one of the tightest engines I've ever owned. With no valve covers, there just isn't much opportunity for leaks.
