I have a 95L that I bought new and only has 17k on it.I wouldn't even think about 10 grand. If it is a nice L with that low of miles,it's worth more than that.

I bought a 94 with 1650 miles on it a month and a half ago for 14k and think I got a great deal. someone else just paid 17.5k for a 1600 miler.

what is it worth? that depends what you want to spend. I would have paid 17k for mine. If I were to sell it now? I wouldn't.

9 grand is a deal for an L with that milage. If you don't buy it, he wont have any trouble selling it at that price.

I wouldn't pay that high price for a 1st Gen Lightning. They're a nice truck and all, don't get me wrong. I loved my low mileage 93, but it didn't even compare when I tried out my 99. That one was expensive, but I bought a low mileage 03 for under $20,000. The power and handling is so much better, it was like coming out of the stone age (1st Gen compared to 2nd generation). When I traded in my 93 with 44,000 miles back in 99, they gave me 10 grand towards a new 99 L. Never had any regrets unti after I wrecked my 99, and saw the 93 all over town.

That is not a high price for a low mile GEN 1. You spent roughly $10k more than the price of the 94 mentioned above...stock for stock, I would hope your 03 performed better.
Another $3-4k for an aftermarket blower kit (Vortech or Pro Charger and even a Kenne Bell) and that 94 will run door handle to door handle with a stock GEN 2.

I wasn't disrespecting the Gen 1 Lightning. I was making the point that there is no comparison between the two. I drove a Gen 1 to the lot to test drive a Gen 2, and couldn't get over the difference. Before that day, you would've had to of killed me to take away my black 93. As far as the 1st Gen/blower combo keeping up with a Gen 2, it aint gonna happen. A good friend of mine went through 3 different blowers on his, before he settled on an intercooled Procharger setup. He has way more invested then just the simple cost of the blower ($3-4k). He had the engine rebuilt with forged internals, o-ringed stock heads that were ported, bigger injectors with an FMU to keep the F/A ratio correct, and he even had to go to mass air. The S/D coudn't handle the mods, the boost and the blower cam. He has some kind of mods to prevent wheel hop and sticky Nitto's, and the stock 4.10 gears. He also had some transmission work done to change his shift points. I added a tuner, a pulley, a K&N filter. I have stock tires and stock 3.73 gears. He beats me out of the hole, but only stays ahead for a few truck lengths, with nearly equal reaction times. I pull ahead in the 1/8th by almost a length. We've never raced on a 1/4 mile track. I also take him on top end, and the Gen 2 feels much more stable at high speed. My buddy still has his truck, and he's got it in the shop for a stroker transplant. He has more money in his truck then I do in mine, but he'll have a quicker and faster truck then I do. Even if it makes him go broke.

I'm sorry, but your friends truck should go faster with all of those parts. And with a good tune, there is NO need for an FMU on boosted, speed density setup. I know, because I run as much as 14psi on my stock motor, stock speed density, and I also do my own tuning, and my truck runs low low 8's to high 7's in the 8th (good to go well into 12's in the 1/4). The friend you have, with the GEN 1, does not represent the entire GEN 1 Lightning community.

I did test drive a 99, and ride was smooth, almost carlike compared to my GEN 1. The fit/finish of the interior of the GEN 2's is excellent. But to say 9k for a low milage GEN 1 is too much, is where I feel you are mistaken. I say this because I've seen those trucks with low miles change hands for that much and even more....they are a dying breed you know.
I still say that 9k is a deal for a 94 with those miles on it.

Point well taken. I guess I should have researched a little deeper.
