Towing Boat Behind Fifth Wheel RV

Does anyone know where I can purchase a hitch receiver to go on the back of my fifth wheel terry travel trailer to tow my boat behind it?

Thanks,

Check with Reese or Draw-tite online or call any hitch installer in your area.

Just make sure that is a frame hitch and not a bumper hitch.

Depends on the state. Many states don't allow it.

California used to be one of the states where you can pull the second unit. It's been about 15 years since I pulled a small sedan behind a 34' 5th wheel but at the time it was legal in California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and Washington. It was illegal in Arizona and Oregon. I think the ticket cost me $65 in 1990. <grin>

V10man they look like a good setup for a 5ver hitch.

California will allow a double hitch with a 5ver but I think that you may have to get a endorsement on your license.

The only western stat that doesn't allow it at all is Washington, Oregon will allow it with a permit that you have to get ahead of time (at least last time I checked).

The biggest thing when pulling doubles is planing ahead

Nuts. I live in WA. and that was on my list to add a hitch to my 5th wheel.

Here's a couple of sites that gives the towing laws, by state.

http://www.boatus.com/towing/towlaw.htm

http://www.hitchemup.com/statetowinglaws.htm

Coglesby, per both of these sites, Texas does not allow double trailers.

I just checked the Trailer Life towing guide and Texas allows doubles up to 65 ft

Interesting, every one I find on the net says no. His best bet is contact the Texas DMV.

The one thing that you have to look at is pulling double with a 5ver not a TT, a lot more state allow it with 5vers than TT. I believe that both of the sites you listed are for TT. There is a big difference between doubles with a 5ver and a TT.
