Starter Conversion

Has anybody tried to put an old style starter on a 302 that came out with the gear reducer starter and rewiring it to start off a Starter Relay?

The Starter drive gear and motor is offset in the flange.

In other words convert a 1995 5.0 starter system and make it like a 1983's 5.0 system.

Here is a Photo of one.

I think there are size and heat issues.
How ever you can take a newer 460 starter and put it on a old 351m.

Thanks for the reply.

Anybody know what year FORD started using this starter in the trucks?

Do they still use it in 2005?
