General Question on older Bronco II

This is a general question on older Bronco II (mine is a 1986 with 220K)...

-Should I run these hi-tech plugs; Single or Double platinum, etc. It appears to me that the $1.99 Motocrafts give me better life in my car??
-Should I run any of these oil additives (the kind you see on the counter at auto stores with the gears you crank and see how the oil sticks to the one set of gears better - I can not remember the name of the product) that increase engine protection for hi-milage cars? Or will this just gum the engine up.
-Is there any advantage to running higher octane fuel in this vintage car??

Like I said, just want to get someone elses opinoin on this. Thanks in advance

If you run any other plugs then the motorcraft standerd copper ones I would just run the single platinum ones.{thats what I'm useing with no problems}
As far as oil additives go I would not use any.Just run a GOOD 10W30 oil and a Motorcraft or Wix oil filter.JMO

I'm running the Bosche 4 way type, they work really well too. I have those, 8mm wires, brass cap and rotor, and MSD Blaster-3 coil. No problems here. As far as oil, I personally use Valvoline and I stay away from Pennzoil, I've heard horror stories, but that's just my opinion.

i was using bosch platinum 4 plugs but decided for autolite iridium plugs instead with 8.8mm msd wires and ignition sysem. i work parttime at advance auto parts here in miami and i have used lucas oil additive that's what your talking about the little machine with the gears. i run 20w-50 castrol with a k&n oil filter i have no problems with ticking lifters or loss of oil pressure.

Thanks for all the input and insight!!

MSD Question:
I just installed a new set of Bosch wires (not sure if 8mm). Will the MSD system work on a '86 BII 2.9L EFI? What would I need to change out - just replace my 19 yr old factory ignition coil with a MSD one?

you have a 8227 msd coil direct replacement for stock coil. you need to find yourself
a 8874 wiring harness from msd and a msd 6A or 6AL with rev limiter.
works great.
