It all depends on the envionment you live in as to what lub, in a desert envionment you want a dry lub bou wd-40 or equivaent works in most envionments. just a quick spray. in side the door locks is easy use the rec spray hose that comes with the lub can and a small squirt inside the lock.

I don't do anything to the weather seals, in my experence if some thing is applyed ti the weather seals then you have to continue the use or it will dry out. the dry lub works best on door hinges but people also use the reg lub for it. There are a lot of preferences as to what is used. in my opinon it boils down to what you like. kind of like the different oils for the engine.

Late-model Volkswagens seem to have a lot of issues with their door seals "creaking". My 2002 Jetta never developed the problem, but I didn't keep it that long. However, 2002 Expedition does seem to have some creaking noises coming from the seals as I drive over rough pavement.
The solution for the Volkswagen problem was to dust plain talcum powder on the seals. This seemed to keep the seals dry so they wouldn't stick to the paint when the door moved relative to the frame. I may try this on my Expy to see if it solves the problem.
