Body Grafting?...

..trying to find out if a 1960 F-100 body can be mounted on a 1987 F-150 Longbed with stock I-6/drivetrain.

Anyone know anyone who has done this?

Hoenstly I have to make a decision. I could trade a lumber rack for a 1987 EFI I6 (new crate engine) F-150 longbed. There was talk of grafting the 60' body onto the 87' but was hoping to find some more info on such an idea.
I could also trade the lumber rack for a sweet 57' Evnrude outboard boat/trailer... hehe so far, I'm leaning towards the boat........

HHHHMMM tough call,

lets see... a driveway filling, garage stealing rusty old money pit that will take every last cent of your money and all of your sanity...or......

a driveway filling, garage stealing dry rotted hole in the water that no amount of money or sanity can fill

I'm not sure which way I'd go.....they both sound like fun

Welcome to the board!!!

Go for the truck!!!! It can be used year round, and you don't have to go far to get to it. Unless of course you are a frame off kinda guy in which case it will be 2023 before you drive it, then the boat can be used sooner and more often.

lol.. all good points... I like the idea of having the front I-beam, I6EFI, drivetrain but I also like to keep things original..lol with that said, the 60' has already been modified with a 460/C6.. the engine/tranny are out and about collecting dust..
Ill probably take door number 2 and grab the boat that doesnt run,,, lol but ithe body is in great shape.. Ill probably try to put the 460/C6 back in but I had to ask about the grafting...

I've got a 1961 Wards Sea King, Sea Venture III with a 1956 30 hp Evinrude and a 1958 F-100. The Sea King is 70% complete on a hull up restoration. The F-100 just barely moves on its own. My suggestion; do them both. If you want to see classic fiberglass boat go to www.fiberglassics.com

Mr 4 speed, how does the front I beam fit under the 57 fenders? look good? I would like to see some photos if possible. I am keeping my 59 stock, but would like to use the cab and fenders off my donor truck to make an updated pickup.

Last summer I aquired a 1959 Dodge D100 truck and a 12' aluminum fishing boat and trailer. The trailer is kinda interesting as it has air bag suspension. Shortly after theat I scrounged up a 1959 Mercury Mark 10A outboard that runs great but needs the impeller replaced. Hopefully I can manage that over the winter.

Old trucks, old cars, old boats, old motorcylces...........gotta luv it
