Hi all. I have a 97 F350 CC 4x4. I changed all of the fluids this weekend. Someone had rounded the edges of the fill plug on the tranny so I pulled the shifter and refilled it from there. The problem I have is when I reinstalled the shifter, it will only move up and down (3rd and 4th gear). As far as I can tell, everything it aligned right. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am going to pull it off and try it again. Also, I put in 4 quarts of ATF, is that enough or does it require more. The transfer case took more that the manual said so I wasn't sure about the tranny.
the bushing is bigger going in one way than the other so pull it back out rotate the bushing 90 degrees and try it again. yeah 4 quarts is good for the tranny. you used full synthetic atf right??? even though the manual sayes mercon v the tranny tag says full synthetic.
its just the blocks are a little bigger one way and i think the bigger end needs to go into the tranny but i cant remember. im lookin for a 6 speed for my 97 for a reasonable price the ole 5speed needs to be pulled.
