ZF 5 speed shifter install problems

Hi all. I have a 97 F350 CC 4x4. I changed all of the fluids this weekend. Someone had rounded the edges of the fill plug on the tranny so I pulled the shifter and refilled it from there. The problem I have is when I reinstalled the shifter, it will only move up and down (3rd and 4th gear). As far as I can tell, everything it aligned right. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am going to pull it off and try it again. Also, I put in 4 quarts of ATF, is that enough or does it require more. The transfer case took more that the manual said so I wasn't sure about the tranny.

Thanks,
Jeremy

the bushing is bigger going in one way than the other so pull it back out rotate the bushing 90 degrees and try it again. yeah 4 quarts is good for the tranny. you used full synthetic atf right??? even though the manual sayes mercon v the tranny tag says full synthetic.

Thanks,

Sorry for the late check-in. I turned the blocks around and it works fine. That is what I get for getting in a hurry I guess. Thanks for the help.
