f250 help

Ok I just got this truck its a f250 its a 1987 with a 460 in it, its also carbed, but anyway the problem its been having is that it will start up and run fine for a couple of times and then it will turn over but wont start if i wait a hour or two and come back to it it will start up fine again but only to do it again later on now ive replaced the coil and the starter selnoid in hopes that that would cure it but it seems that didnt work either what could it be any help would be great.

Sounds like possibly a vapor lock situation. Check the routing of the fuel lines to make sure they aren't resting on anything that gets hot enough to boil the fuel in them when you shut the truck off.

If the engine is turning over but not starting then it's probably not the starter or the solenoid. Sounds like either a vapor lock or a plugged fuel filter.

The next time that you have this problem check to see if you have an adequate spark. It is possible that the ignition module is starting to go.

If the engine will fire when you spray a bit of starting fllud down the carb, then the problem is fuel delivery related.

Just went through the same thing with my 93 F350 turned out to be the module insde the distributer.
