Standard Rad with 400 "335" Motor?
Should this be ok? I have a standard Rad in my 56 F100, I drove it around the farm for a bit the other day to make sure the transmission is working and it seemed that the water got very hot very quickly.
I am thinking that I should probably flush it all out anyway, just in case its blocked up with crud. Although I have never really had much success with any of the flushing stuff.

Yes. I think you will be fine with that setup. I have a 56 with a 351C "335" motor and a stock radiator. I have no overheating problems. I did have some problems early because of poor air flow and clogged radiator tubes. My 351C is hopped up some and probably produces more heat than a stock 400 ever could. The stock radiator is very capable of handling the temps.
I do recommend taking the radiator to a radiator shop where they can boil it out and pressure test it. It is surprisingly inexpensive to have done (at least in the US). Then drive it and see how it is. With the English weather, you should be fine with just doing that. I would swap out the thermostat for a new one at the same time and check the hoses and fan belt, replacing if/as required. It is cheap insurance.
I also added an electric fan with a temp switch, because I drive in a lot of stop and go LA traffic. The truck came with a stock fan and a nice fan shroud, but the stop and go made it overheat anyway. The temp switch turns the fan on or off according to the water temperature automatically. All cooling problems were solved with that. In fact, it is only in stop and go traffic that the fan ever comes on, even in 100+ degree weather.
If you need part numbers or more help with the fan setup, PM or email me. I can tell you what I used and how it is set up.
Good luck

I will have you know that it has been in the 70's and 80's just lately, unusually warm for here. If this is what global warming means to us, then I say bring it on!!
I think that getting the rad down to a radiator shop is good advice, as you say it is not that expensive and there is one only about a mile away from my house.
Hopefully I wont need any additional fans, but if I do I will take you up on the offer.
Cheers
