Question distributer gear

How much play should be in the distributer gear. I can move my rotor about an 1/8 of an inch. I used my old distibuter out of my 93 and put it in my 94 factory roller... Did I need to change the gear for the roller cam.

yes, assuming your 93 was a non-roller motor. The gears are different.

well then I guess I just might have found the problem with my truck. Sometimes it runs great and others not so great. Replaced cap rotor and wires and the problem was gone. Two days later and its back, and ity does seem like a timing issue. When it was running good the timing showed 14 deg and when its bad it bounces between 8 and 14 along with idle fluctuation. So maybe that will solve my problem...thanks
