79 F-250 trailer special sway bar question

Hi All,

Check it out,,, I got this whole project goin on with my 79 F-250 4x4.. It's a trailer special and on the rear sway bar, one of the arms conecting it to the frame is bent real bad at the threaded end where it connects to the sway bar. Question is,, being that I can't find a repacement,, and I'm not doin any real heavy pullin,, 25' boat at the most, do I really need it,, can I take the whole thing off til I find a replacement?,, thanx y'all,

The rod is or recently was available from Ford. I would leave the bar intact if it were mine.

In my area they have 'Pick-n-Pull', the you pull it junk yards. I recently got a rear sway bar for my F250 for $20. Check the junk yards.

The junk yard parts are frequently corroded inside the bushings. I just had one break so I lost the poly bushings also:-(

If Ford does not have the part, you can get semi-replacements from aftermarket suspension companies like Prothane. Energy suspension has universal end links in various lengths. You will have to convert the top bushing from an "eye" type with a bolt thru it to a "plate mount" type by fabricating a plate to bolt to the frame.
