Remove Step Bars from STX Ranger

Remove Step Bars from STX Ranger
I just purchased a 2005 Ranger STX Supercab and for some reason it was ordered with chrome step bars. These seriously detract from the appearance of the vehicle and actually get in the way given the lowered stance of the STX.
I was curious if anyone has experience removing the step bars. It appears that each bar is held on by six fasteners. There are four bolts at the rear of the bar and two nuts at the front. Unfortunately, I cannot easily tell if the nuts at the front are on fixed studs or if they are on bolts that would require removal of the flooring to access.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you are interested in purchasing a pair of step bars for your extended cab Ranger there will soon be a set available in North Alabama.
Thanks,
Mike Bayler.

I did this with my 03 FX4, makes it look alot taller. Only problem your gonna run into is that the front brackets are built into the body and I dont think there is a way to get them out. So, all you do is put the two nuts back on the bracket and leave it.
P.S. I have a pair of black super cab bars if anybody is looking.

I have an '04 Ranger Xcab 4dr and purchased the factory chrome step bars from a guy with an 04 Ranger Xcab 2dr. The rear brackets had bolts that went through the body of the truck into the bracket that had a threaded receiver. The front had two bolts that were connected with a small piece and they were inserted through a hole in the body and the threades bolts hung down in the verticle. There was one hole in the bracket and one slot so you could theread one nut and hang the step bar while you were inserting the two back bolts and then the remaining front bolt. Of course, removal is reversed. By the way, the step bar from the above Rangers had different brackets, I had to buy rear brackets from Ford for $105. Ask me if I was happy about that!
