Yes, you can add a tach, but this is DIS ignition system (no distributor) so you have to get the tach signal from the engine computer. There's a wire you can tap into (don't remember the color code) but you may still need a module to make it accurate.
Take a look at www.autometer.com for more info. Hope that helps, and welcome to FTE!

thanks

thanks alot and i'm glad to be a member of the best site dedicated to ford trucks! anyway, would it be possible to replace my stock speedo-only-in-dash with another ford OE in-dash, one that comes with the tach? i am asking this because i wanna go for the stock look without a tach mounted on my a-pillar or on my steering column. btw, i have a non-digital tripometer, if that makes a difference.

97 and 98's with mechanical odometer are a direct replacement. The Tach wire is already present in the wire cluster. It is just plug and play.

Link didn't work for me. Any cluster from a 97 or 98 with mechanical odometer would work. Mileage is a different story. I have been told you can increase mileage by spinning the wheel, but it will break if you try to decrease the mileage. I didn't try that. I kept my old cluster, and saved a picture of the one I bought off of Ebay. The shift indicator will just clip in. As far as 99 and above models, it is not so easy. Mileage is stored in the PCM, i believe, and there is also a PATS issue. I don't think it is just a plug in replacement like it is for the 97 and 98's.
