4x4 Conversion

Could someone give me an idea of what might be involved in converting my '67 F100 to 4x4? I know the front and rear gear ratios should match, but I don't have any clue whether a 4x4 front end/suspension/steering will bolt directly into a truck that wasn't manufactured with it. I understand there are parts to buy of course, but is it do-able without major modifications to the truck other that parts replacements?

If you are good with a torch and welder, anything is possible.

Honestly, it's cheaper and easier to start with a 4X4 chassis and build from there. There are enough differences between the two that even some of the common parts won't interchange without extra work.

It has been done, check the Offroad and 4x4 forum. Try out the search function as well.

Personally, I would find a donor 4x4 from 65-72 and add your pretty sheetmetal. For the amount of fab time and details involved, I would be sidetracked and have an unfinished project in no time...

If youre looking for a donor truck...i think i have one. Lemme check, and if youre interested in it. Let me know and ill get a price on it. Hopefully the truck wouldnt cost much more than buying everything separate, and hacking it together.

The easiest way is deffinently to find a donor truck, swap your motor and body off your 2wd to the 4wd, and be done. Ofcourse theres more to it than that. But it is deffinently the easiest way.

I would definitely be interested in the donor truck. Could you get some info on it for me?
