Vibration in 2005 F150 4x4
Bought my first truck! Had been driving a minvan for too many years, but now with the gas prices where it’s going, I’m wondering if I made the right choice. But, on to my question – I bought a 05’ F150 4x4 Lariat crew cab. I love the truck, but when accelerating between 50 and 60 mph, you can feel a vibration. When I let off the gas the vibration appears to go away. When I step back on the gas the vibration comes back. I took it back to the dealer once already and they performed what they called “Neutralize Engine Mounts” (what ever that means) The vibration is still there. I’m going to take it back to the dealer again but I’d like to know if anyone has had a similar problem with their 05’ F150? Thank you all.

Jim,
Had the exact same problem with my 2004. (3:55 gear ratio) My dealer followed a Ford TSB which involved balancing the front tires, new drive shaft, and finally a new ring and pinion gear. The ring and pinion gear finally fixed the vibration. It took over a month to get the new ring and pinion though. The dealer assured me it wouldn't hurt to drive it during the wait. I guess time will tell.

I had the same problem at idle. The dealer reflashed the computer three times. Still had vibration. I could also detect a shudder while driving. I gave the dealer another shot before asking for a Ford rep. They finally drove the truck with an analyzer attached. They found that #6 fuel injector was acting up. They replaced the injector and the corresponding spark plug. I was sceptical, but the problem is gone and has not returned. The truck runs like a bear now! They also replaced the cam phasers that was causing an annoying ticking sound. Persistance with your dealer is the key. And, don't be afraid to get a Ford rep involved.
