Got DTC codes 1443 and 401 are they related?

Got DTC codes 1443 and 401 are they related?
I just scaned my 97 B4000 and got the following codes:
P1443 - Evaporative Emission Control Valve
P0401 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficent Detected
Are these related?
I reset the codes and the CEL light went out. I drove around for 5-10 min. and the light came back on with the same codes.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give me!!
