Replacement Radio 87 F250

Replacement Radio 87 F250
My friend just has an 87'F250 and the radio was missing when he bought it. So we picked up a replacement for it at a junk yard, the radio didn't come from the same year of truck, but same model but we can't get it to work. He bought a Hayes manual but it didn't show anything specifically for the radio. Any help would be great.
