How heavy a jack and jack stands?

I have been loooking at floor jacks and jackstands. A standard capacity is a 3 ton jack and 3 ton jackstands.

Would this combination be enough for my Bronco? Or should I get greater capacity stuff?

More than enough for your Bronco. The 3 ton floor jack is probably the most usefull all around. They will lift the trucks high enough yet still fit under most cars.

Both should be enough. I have a mere 2 1/4 ton jack, and even that's enough with some care. I do have 4 ton jackstands, though.

Yes, a three ton jack is fine. You don't want one that is too big, then it is a pain in the @$$ to move around. I actually only have a two ton floor jack, but the main problem with that is that it does not extend high enough as it is more for cars. But the 4,000 lb. capacity of the 2 ton jack is enough, since the jack will never be suporting the entire weight of the truck. I am planning on getting a three ton unit and jackstands though, as I am in the process of upgrading my "shop."

I have a floor jack from Harborfreight (how ever you spell that) and I think it's 2 1/2 ton or so and it was pretty cheap and lifts very high. I also have some 3 ton jackstand from them for $10, and just to get it I have one of there hi lift jacks for $30.
