Oceana, staying or going?

What do you guys think? I think they'll rally enough support and save the jobs. I hope so, anyway. I'm afraid of what it'll do to property values around here. On the other hand, I know it would take a while, but wouldn't the economy recover with the advent of all the new jobs that the empty base would create? Rumor has it that there are already a bunch of corporations looking to buy up the land and facilities...

I think we'll lose it, VB city counsel has screwed up to much with allowing the constant encroachment. From what I have gathered in newspaper articles, the only reason to stay, is becuase its already here Maybe. . .its cheaper to keep her. . .But, I did read where if we do keep Oceana, VB has promised to condem/buy some 1800 homes around the base. Sucks to be those familes if it happens. There also trying to shut down that centuries old base on the Peninsula (The powers that be claim $$$1 billion$$$ to clean up all the old bombs though?).

Peninsula land is supposed to go back to the state, where they'll probably put up MORE condos. . .wuppie I thought that Ocean would still be Government owned and run, just incase? I'm not sure how that works, but thats what I heard. *After thought* Wait, I heard something similar. . .FedEx or someone wants to make it there international air terminal for the east or something. . .

Property values is a toss up. I've heard it'll go down, but I have heard that homes around the base will go way up in value

I dunno. . . how long till we hear the answer?

The ball on in VB Council court now. Interesting to see what they decide to do. IMO, Council should have respected the base. What idiots aproved residentials in a crash zone??? Then idiot homeowners who bought into a crash zone. Beyond belief.

From what I heard, that even if VB buys or takes the 1800 houses/bussinesses then there is a chance that Oceana would still be closed in 10-15 years.

SO if this was true, would it be worth for VB to spent millions of $$ to feed a lost cause.

And how long have you lived here?

Just messin'

I'm sure in there eyes it would be worth it, just like it was worth it to let all those developements spring up around Oceana in the first place. . .

i am one that lives close to the runway, and in my opinion i moved in knowing about the noise so that gives no reason or grounds to complain
