tachometer feed 1994 Superduty 460

I am trying to install a tachometer and not sure where to attach the tachometer signal feed. The instructions say to the negative side of the coil? Is there a wire or terminal already in place etc.

You'll have to add a connector to put on the negative side of the coil.

At first look I havent been able to find a coil, at least not one like I am used to on older vehicles with non electronic ign. If I trace a sparkplug wire back, will I find a distributor and then a coil?

Trace the center wire out of your distributor, it should lead to a small square frame containing a round coil with an electrical connector coming in right underneath the coil wire.

Hook your tach lead to the wire on the left as you face the plug when it's plugged in.

He said earlier it's a 460. Probly around 5000 RPM stock, but the big block may be less. I haven't worked with one yet personally.

I set mine by where the motor ran out of steam. 4500 is pretty much it, so I set the redline at 4800. Ford EEC shuts fuel off at 6250 RPM on most engines (4.6L is an exception, it's higher on the performance versions...)

Sorry I didnt see that he said it was a 460. Not sure about a big block, but I know my 351 doesnt show a red line on the tach. It just stops at 6 grand. Im never able to get it past 3800 b/c it shifts before that point, even if I'm stomped to the floor.

My engine is pretty well wrapped out at about 3500-3800 when it shifts. It has its most power at about 3500 for some reason, should be more at higher rpm but its not.
