Work on my little Prostreet Ranger resumed!!

I know ya'll don't know me, i'm ususally in the I6 and Full size truck forums. I've got a 1990 Ranger XLT SuperCab 4X2 shortbed my dad gave me when he bought my mom a new truck in 1997, when i was 9. I learned how to drive on that thing so it holds sentimental value for me. It's in awsome shape body wise, a little cancer on the Rad support, paint still shines(my dad knows how to keep them in shape)

Get this, the original 2.9 went 350K and ran when i pulled it, but the 5spd was rebuilt twice. It had 3 bent pushrods, explained the power issue, and still held great compression and started on the first hit.

So i pulled the 2.9 back in 2002 with plans on putting it in my Craftsman mower i restored and making it into a drag mower.

I bought a 351WHO out of an F250 and am in the process of rebuilding it into a 600HP full race motor. Gonna be backed by a Tremec 5spd NOT a T5 a TSK i think 600FTLBS capacity.

Well to get the 351 where i want it is going to take alot of money. So in the mean time i've been anxious to drive it. It's the first truck i remember and i was at the dealer in 1990 when it was bought.

I had a demo derby 89' Lincoln TCar. With a rebuilt 302 and AOD, that i pulled when the car was junk, it's been sitting in the bed of the ranger since.

I'm really thinking of putting it in the ranger till i finish the 351W just for fun to see what kind of power it really will be. It will be a5spd when it is finished buy i'm going to stick the AOD in there just so i can tear around a little.

SO i have a few questions,

1. Will the Slip yoke from the ranger D shaft fit the back of the AOD?

2. Will Explorer V8 Mounts work in the ranger?

3. The Truck stripped down weighs 2700lbs around 2950 with me in it. How fast will the 302's 210hp move it? i belive the ranger has 3.73's.

When it's finished it will be black with 2 tan racing stripes like the old Shelby GT350's and a 9" with 3.73's and 12" Slicks.

Right now i'm just anxious to drive it alittle.

Here are some Pics, I removed the rad support today after school.

And the 302

And the Windsor:

I guess ya'll will be seeing me more and more that i've started working on the old girl again.

Thanks

The best place I can tell you to look for Ranger V-8 conversions is James Duff. They'll even send you a free color catalog, and I'm sure if you call them you can work out any minor details they don't cover.

I'd strongly suggest an 8.8 or custom 9" rear, and a custom 1-piece driveshaft. I found that flipping the (5th? -the one w/ a dip for the driveshaft) crossmember upside-down and bolting it back in, it gave almost perfect clearance for my 1-piece shaft. It will also depend on where your tailshaft ends up, considering the fullsize drivetrain.

Yea i'm going with a 9" but i want to tear around in it around the block a few times, so that's why i'm doing it kinda cheeply cause i'm estimating 7K to finish it the way i want it.
