Been trying to find a axle to fit. It is 35 1/8 inches long and 35 spline. I found one the right length and with 35 splines from a 1988 truck. It didn't fit, the splines would not match up or they were not cut deep enought. So I decided to order a new one. The guy at the axle shop said he had one. When I told him about the one from the 1988 not fitting he checked the part number and found it was the same part number as the 1982. So acording to him I have an axle that should fit.I have tried 4 or 5 other axles in it and the splines are all too tight except for one from a 1978 box van. The splines sliped right in to my carrier but it was 2 inches too long. But it showed me that there are Dana axles out there that will fit into my carrier. The guy at the axle shop told me that the 35 spline axles are universal and should fit in any Dana 35 spline carrier.
Has any one else out there experienced this problem and how did you solve it?
