Ok thanks so a 302 is the biggest motor you can fit in a bronco? Does anyone know how much one of these build would cost?

A 351 W will fit also, 302 fits better. You will also have to upgrade your tranmission, the stock ones(even though they sell adaptors for them will not hold up long) Best bet is a C-4 tranny. Cost will depend on how cheap you can find the parts you need. If you use the adaptors it will cost a alot. If you take your time and research it and find use parts or even a donor vehicle like a 5.0 explorer it will cost you less. The guy that had my ranger before me had about 3500 in the swap but he bought all the high priced adaptors. A body lift is a must it will make it alot easiers to swap in the V8. Right now I have about 400 in the parts for my BII swap. and still searching for more. Plus I have to rebuild the motor yet.

There's not much of a difference between the 302 and 351w as far as size, I believe just about an inch or so. The 302 also has more aftermarket parts for it doesn't it?

351 about a inch wider, but when you add headers it makes it a bit more difficult. 302 is what I would use but then again I like them better then the 351 I have.

Talking

Would you be able to fit a 351 M in a B2 then? I am buying a 87 B2 4WD, 2.9. I also have 87 F-150 with a 351 M motor in it. I am looking to make a swamper out of the B2 so any help would be appreciated.

Nope, you can fit a 351 Windsor block in there though. You might be able to move the Body over from the B2 to the F-150 chassis though, I've seen it done with Big Bronco's.

You can make anything fit, the 351m would very time consuming and costly to swap in. I have seen pictures and talked to a guy that has put a 460 in a ranger and BII. He did fiberglass tilt front clips and some frame modifications to do it. The 351W would be a good swap. Biggest problem I have heard from guys that have done the swap is exhaust clearances for the headers. Have seen several 351w in rangers and BII on some other web sites. This fall my BII will get a 302 or 351w after all the other mods are done.

You would have to do major frame mods to support the extra weight.

The ranger is getting a solid axle and heavier springs It is going to be more of a show and shine truck after the big swap, It will have a tilt front and no fender wheels, the exhuast is my biggest problem right now figuring how I am going to run it. There is no easy or best way I have found yet.

Here are some wieght an sizes of V8 I found on another site
Ford 2.8 wieghs about 310lbs

Engine: Width ;Length ;Height ;Weight
289/302: 24"; 29" ;27.5" ;460lbs
Boss 302: 24.5" ;29" ;28.5" ;500lbs
351 Windsor: 25" ;29" ;29" ;525lbs
351 Cleveland: 25.5" ;29.25" ;29" ;550lbs
351M/400: 26" ;29.5" ;29" ;575lbs
428 FE: 27" ;32" ;29" ;625lbs
427 SOHC: 32" ;34" ;30" ;680lbs
429/460 "385 series": 27" ;34" ;29" ;720lbs
