Alrighty guys, its that time! Lets determine a place to have this thing! Last state meet we had in Lewis park, along skyline drive. Maybe this time something closer to the Richmond area Any and all ideas welcome, if we aren't coming together on a single destination on our own, I'll have to choose for us Ain't letting this one drag out, I think it we should have the meet in the end of September/begining of October
And we're gonna talk about chapter stuffs!

The Virginia State Fair is in Richmond at the end of October/beginning of September.
Wouldn't it be a great publicity stunt if we put a FTE VA Chapter car in the Demolition Derby? Or a couple of cars? Get a enough cars for several drivers, and take turns having fun? I'll bet some local junkyard/gas station would like to have thier name on 3-5 cars at the derby, and would take the wrecks away for us. There's 1-2 derbys every day from Sept 30 to Aug 2 (Friday-Sunday).

The 4-banger classes look like the most fun. I've seen Escort wagons dominate year after year.
They also have freestyle motocross and lawnmower racing (hell yeah!).
I hear the ocean is still nice and warm in the beginning of October, and the beaches are deserted. Could we camp on the beach?

Sounds like it would be a blast! But not exactly what I would think of for a State Meet & Greet I dunno. . .
As for camping on the Ocean, are you talking about down here? Sea Shore State park has a nice camp ground. No camping on the Strip, but you can have a bonfire. Camping all up and down the James River, but you need a boat of some sort, and Eastern Shore has campgrounds as well. I wouldn't say the waters warm, but its swimmable. Low 60's by the end of September (almost ready for striper season ).
Theres a State park with facilities just outside of Richmond.
Pocahontas State Park
Any other ideas? Or yeah/neah existing ones? And wheres that BBQ place?

Kings Dominion has pavilions you can reserve and they also offer catering services. (food is pretty good the times I have been). I'll call this week for info if I get time. There are a lot of places available in the central va area but we need an idea of how many poeple to expect to be able to know what kind of place we need. I mean are we talking a conference room at a hotel or a banquet room at a restaurant? Did anyone get a head count at the 1st meeting?
Lets try this... I know it's hard to commit without knowing an exact date but if you are willing to come, providing your schedule allows, how about sending me a pm or email at gpeade at charterinternet.com. I will keep a running count of members that would come and this will keep the thread from becoming so long. I will post results occasionally so everyone has an idea of what's happening.
bigblue, I had also thought about the fair but I was thinking of maybe having a display from the club with some of our rides and info about the chapter. I know it's too late to get this together this year but just an idea for the future.

Pierces Pitt BBQ place is off 64, near Williamsburg.

There's nothing on the menu that you need to know besides the pulled pork BBQ. You can get it in any amount from a sandwich to a quart tub. Someone picks up a tub on the way to Richmond, someone else brings sesame buns, another brings coleslaw, and we're good to go.

BigBlue's got it right, nice and easy "pot luck" bar-b-q at a park or someones house. . .Deal with a few chapter issues, get to know each other and just eat-drink-and be merry Just like the last chapter meet. We had like 9 members show up, most of us stayed for a good couple of hours, and a few camped over night. I've always done good planning for family events by anticipating 10 people. Less show, you have left overs, if more show, well its Pot-luck, so there will be plenty of food anyways to choose from
Plan on the meet the first or second weekend in October, depending on how fast we move here. Gives people plenty of time to get a day off or plan accordingly (ahem, yomow). I was planning on a Saturday, but I have no problems with Sunday, as long as everyone can make it Only a handful more days before we need to git-r-dun. . . Dissapointed more people haven't spoken up, they all read my PM
