73-79 gear ratios

What gear ratios were offered for 2 wheel drive ford trucks between 1973 and 1979?

2.75,3.00,3.25,3.50,3.70,4.10
I'm pretty sure that most of these were available. 2.75 is the most common.

I had 3.07 gears in my 77 F-100 w/D44. I have never seen this gear in other people trucks before, but I know they have all the one's LxMan1, and I have seen 3.08 gear ratio's too.

My light duty (6800) 1977 F250 has a Dana 60 in it with a 3.07 ratio. Great for the highway but a little high for towing.

the tag on my door says 13j,which would mean 2.75(no wonder I can't get off the line very well,no matter what I do to the engine ) my question is,what does the j stand for?

The J for the 460 shows up in the 4th digit of the VIN number.

The J after the axle code stands for Power Steering like the previous poster stated.

The type of rear makes a difference what ratio is available in stock gears.

9" vs Dana's

I personally haven't heard of 3.44 gears in a 9", 3.50s is a very popular gear though.

Yes higher(numatically) is better for towing, but there is such a thing as to high with a small tire. or even with a big tire.
