differences between 1977, 1978 and 1979 F250 crew cabs

Anyone know the differences between 1977, 1978, and 1979 F250 crew cabs. Any changes made to the frames, axles, drivelines, transfer case (mounted or divorced?), steering boxes, front clips, interiors, etc. What are the differences between the "early" '77's and the "late" '77's? Any ideas on VIN numbers of each year of crew cabs?
I am lookin for a '79 but am wondering about buying a '78 or '77 then replacing front clip with '79. Any problems doing this?
What about at truck shows? People frown on a '77 or '78 with a '79 front end?

Thanks!

Look what I am doing right now. '79 2x4 frame with '79 4x4 body, '75 grill, late 80's 300, '75 3 speed, '75 3.25 gears, etc. It's whatever you like. Just my 2 cents.

Consecutive build number in VIN #

77's ran from
78's ran from AE000-AF999 (August 77) to CJ000-CK999 (August 78)
79's ran from DE000-(august78) to DK999 (August 79)

NO

79's share the same front end as a 78 Ranger & up trim line
Only 78 Custom's had round headlights

Dennis,
In the front of my Haynes manual printed in 1983 it has a picture of a 79 F100 Custom 4-wheel drive pick-up with round headlights. If I had a scanner I'd send it to you. It actually has the free wheeling package on it complete with a roll bar in the back, alloy wheels and the side decals.
