I dont know what to do for the steering I have a 77 Ford F250 highboy and I going to switch the steering to a 78 or 79 F250 steering so I wont have the problem that you have
The ladder bar question I built ladder bars for my truck I made them 4ft long and used 1" square tubing and used 2 u bolts per side around the axle and half inch heim joints but if i did it again I would use 5/8 or larger because I striped the threads off one side They really helped a lot because I truck pull the truck and it stopped it from hopping and take off

Me and my buddy lifted his 76 250 4 inches, we ran into the same problem. What we did was remove the draglink from the steering arm, and redrilled it to fit on the top part of the arm. Now the turning radius is messed up a little bit, but my buddy is cheap and does not care...it looks like the dropped draglinks from 77/5-79 might could be made to fit.

but if you can, switch to the 77.5-79 steering, its much better

summit makes a kit which basiclly consists of a three inch steel block that bolts ubder the arm on your axle then they make a 2 and a 1/2 inch offset drag link which gives you 5 1/2 inches of drop i have a 77 highboy that i am converting to a 78 steering set up and i found they make a 4 inch drop pitman arm but it wont work because it hits the leaf springs so i took and welded the pitman arm on the steering arm on the axle to get the drag link leveled out dont know if this helps as i dont know what steering you have if its the stock steering id go with the steel block

if its not a ford kill it
