BC/CC orange peel
#2
Depends on how bad it is. If it is not terrible you should be alright. Buffing out clearcoat won't help if the base has orange peel, because you are sanding and buffing the clear smooth, not the base. If you have a small piece like a gas cap or something you could take off and clear first, you could mix up just enough clear and spray that quick and see how it looks. Orange peel is caused by spraying at the wrong pressure, distance too far, not being reduced enough, ect, and improper spray gun setup as well as other possible factors. There are many places to look for causes if you search for paint defects. If you see it doesn't look good when cleared, then knock down the base with 1000 grit or so and spray another coat of base before clear. Base usually lays down pretty decent, you weren't spraying it on real heavy were you, and trying to get gloss out of it?
