Cannot lock doors with engine running??

I have a keypad on my door, and sometimes i like to leave the truck RUNNING and get out and lock the doors to keep the AC on for the dog for short periods. However, when it is running, if i lock the doors, the drivers side almost IMMEDIATELY unlocks so i cannot lock my keys inside the vehicle.

Is this a normal feature of the TRUCK or my recently installed alarm system. How can i disable this either way??

Your truck must be equipped with the Smart Lock feature, which operates just as you described. The owner's manual says you can override this feature by 1.) using the manual lock button on the door, 2.) locking the driver's door with a key, or 3.) using the button on the remote entry transmitter

When you get out of the truck, press the last two buttons on the right ON YOUR KEYPAD at the same time. It will lock the doors while the engine is on. To unlock press in your 5 digit code and it will unlock the doors, I do it all the time AND LOVE IT!!!!

I just manually push the lock button down as I exit. The auto lock kicks the driver's door lock up if I use the switch... I didn't know about pressing the two buttons on the right - 6 vs. 1/2 doz. to me...

When you are standing outside of the truck with the door open, press the electric lock button on the inside. It will lock all of the doors. Then, immediately after you do that, pull out on the outside door handle of the door that is still open. Close the door while you still have the handle pulled out. All of the doors will remain locked.

yeah, i posted before i tried the keypad lock thing....this is a much better idea!

Thanks for the posts.....i looked today for this 'feature' but never found it in the manual....i also didnt know it was called smart lock.

SMART LOCK! What an ironic name. More like Idiot-Assist System.

We use the other remote. We have a doggy too. If we know we will be leaveing him in the truck we take both sets of keys.
