'02 F-250 SD Brake Controller connection

I have just purchase a trailer brake controller unit for my 2002 F-250 SD 4x4 7.3L Diesel truck. The controller shipped with a Ford wiring harness and a standard wiring harness made for splicing. I can't seem to find much info about the location of the pre-wired connector in my truck from internet searches or searches of this and other forums. I have searched under the dash several times but have failed to find a loose connector that matches the pre-wired harness provided by the brake controller dealer. I did find some loose wires attached to a wiring harness that seem to have the appropriate colors for brake controller wiring. Could someone give me some help with connecting a brake controller in my truck. I continue to be amazed that a pre-wired brake controller connector does not exist on this truck! Any info. will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2002 F-350 and mine was located low in the bottom of the dasn on the righthand side just past the area where the removable panel is that you yake off for access to the steering column. It was tucked up behind a mount bracket. Area just above the center tunnel on floor.

Same location on my '00. Don't forget, there are a couple relays and fuses that must be in place for it to work correctly. To the best of my recollection, there are a couple threads about all this over in the Towing forum. You'll probably need to read those.........

Thanks for the info. I have read the threads in the towing section and I will continue the search for the connector as well as investigating the fuses and relays.

Connector found, just remove the fuse panel cover and look to the upper right next to the support bracket. All fuses and relays already in place. 15 minute installation after locating the connector. Thanks guys.

Was your connector a gray rectangular piece? I have a 2000 that I am going to put the controller on. Thanks

Yes it was a gray rectangular connector located on the top right side of the fuse cover opening almost directly behind the cubby hole storage in the dash.
