i think these dodges back in nascar is a new twist.
with all respect to fords, dodge using intrepid seems more logical for nascar, than ford switching to those tauruses a while back. then again i hate the taurus, but any other ford vehicle is all good.

If it will help Bill Elliot win more frequent, then I'm for it. Considering the cars are going to the windtunnel to equalize all the makes, hey it's driver technique also...

Dodge use to tear up the track back in the day. It will be interesting to see if they stll got it. I for one wish them the best of luck and look forward to seeing the first race. Hope I can get nascar racing in England. The only Dodge I ever owned ws a 1988 Ramcharger. To tell the truth the only reason I got rid of it was I didn't like the non removable top, and early Dodge fuel injection is a goofy system that seems to stay broke more than not.

Frankly, NASCAR- "Stock Car" racing- really doesn't hold my interest since '98 and the introduction of the Taurus. While we all know there isn't much stock about these cars, at least the drivetrain layout should remain the same as what is available on the showroom floor. The Intrepid, Monte Carlo and Taurus are all front drive platforms!!! Mr. France should require the cars to mirror their parent drivetrain layout- imagine the excitement of a Monte Carlo front wheel burnout on pit row! Hideous....
I was quite happy a couple years ago with the T-Birds, since I knew no matter who crossed the line first, the first T-Bird across won because it was the only stock car (rear driver) out there! Can't say that anymore... However, Ford fans, the only current stock car that has had a V-8 option is the Taurus, although in front drive format, so we can take solace there.
Nascar- If we are going to play the sedan game, then let's allow the large cars- Crown Vic and Marquis can retain their front V-8, rear drive, and the new Impala (Swahili for impotent) can compete with its V-6 turning the wrong wheels....
What say Ford fans?

I think it is a good idea, i have wondered why didn't dodge get back in racing. after all they are the 2nd best car/truck maker in the industry (behind fords of course) but they have been having probs w/overheating. If they can get that fixed i think they will have a good team. just my 2 cents.

I think it's great that there will be even more competition. While I'm not a big NASCAR fan, I do enjoy pretty much any kind of motorsport, and I think the new ideas brought in by Dodge will make everyone work harder to win.
On a related note, I, too, hate the fact that they call it "stock car" racing. I would much rather pay $50 to see V6 Taurus', Monte Carlos, Grand Prix, and Intrepids running road courses at 100-150 mph than antiquated(sp?) V8 roll cages running in circles at 200 mph. Sorry, I guess i just can't relate to 'em. Also, bring back the NATCC!!

They have four or five cars and the engine is a all new design sharing nothing really with the Magnum or LA series engines.
Sterling Marlins car was hot @Daytona.

some one mention an option v8 in the taurus? i believe monte carlo has an optional v8 too. both the ford an chity engines are probally DOHC aluminum small dispacement v8s. dodge will soon have the charger back in commision(concept car), its to have the 5.9 magnum v8 and rear wheal drive. mopar should put that in nascar instead.
i remember when it was all buick, pontiac, oldsmobile, chevy, and ford, come to think of it, general motors had the most junk
racing in nascar.
i also remember nascar used to run v6 in busch series, those cars sounded like p. offed killer bees.
though i am a ford man i will remember dale earnhardt. why couldn jeff gordon get it instead? i hate him

I am glad Mopar is back, hopefully the will bother the pontiacs that always seem to cause heartache to the ford drivers. i am not worried about chevy cause well they just are no good. but if mopar and pontiac fight it out that leaves ford to take the flag and the cup.
