Plans for cab swap

I'm going to swap an 84 F100 cab on to a 78 F150 4x4 frame. Does anyone know if the body mounts are in the same position? will the steering shaft match up to the 78? electric/electronics are no obstacle. the shifter is on the floor in both trucks also....please let me know at FL4x4offroad(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

I am going to be putting an 86 cab on a 79 fram pretty soon to, I know the frame is narrower but it shouldn't be too bad. Mines a Super cab on a super cab frame, whats yours?

I took measurements on both trucks and wholeheartedly decided against it due to the front clip width. Everything else is the same, but I just don't have time to fabricate mounts and MAKE it work. it's a weekend project as is....Just decided to fix the 78 4x4 instead. Thanks anyways!

Well if I fix the 79 then I need to get a new box as well, I have all the 86 parts in a donor truck so why not. My opinion is that the 80-86 trucks are better looking but thats just my opinion.

Electricmaniac, I am sure your truck will be great when done, but like you said it will be lots of work, i don't even know where to start with my swap.

The frame width is the same under the cab and rear portion of the frame, so the beds are interchangable. it's the very front under the radiator core support that would have to be heavily modified to work. It changed my perspective and I will be sportin' the 78 soon. It also has a NP 4 spd. 203 T/Case, Dana 44 high pinion front and a 9" rear end, powered by a 300 I6. If I manage to break any of that stuff I'd really be doing something...LOL Thanks again for your input!

So the Cab would swap on but the front clip, rad support and such will have to be changed? This sounds like it may be tough but thats alright, it will just take alot of messing around and fabricating I suppose.
