Some things I've noticed about the KANSAS chapter....

They share a lot, and help out with eachothers projects. They post about them in their chapters!

Maybe we oughta loosen up and talk more "Everyday Talk", ya know it?

I have always thought about all the connections I constantly find who are WAY helpful, and introduce friends where I can.

While the "OFFICIAL" purpose of the Chapters is to promote FTE;
YOU AIN'T GONNA GIT THAT WITHOUT A RUNNING TRUCK...
We know who the local sources are, and who has a rig up for trade. THAT is where it's at.

Ya know?

How can we help eachother?

And why not...

I think we should tell everyone about our mods& our reasons for using them. It keeps interest up & promotes our trucks. We can post where we get our best deals on mods & parts too. Its about helping other members & being a big family of truck owners.

I am looking for a later V8 for my 54. Or at least some way of ditching my Loadomatic distributor.

I'm dust tonight, or would answer back.

There are motors in west TN.

It's racing country, even if some of the yards have closed

Can't think right just yet, but A1 looks like it just opened up again....

i saw it today, and about fell outta my bench seat.....

I doubt the Brewers are running it, so it might be a while sounding them out.

Who is A1? Have you ever been to Active parts in the Shelby Forrest area? They used to be very reasonable. I used to go to B&B some, but they were too expensive!

A1 is along the 51, just before Atoka. Used to be run by Gary Brewer - a real old time rod and custom man! he passed on about a year ago, and things went pretty much down hill. I think the yard may have been sold, I'm going to check it out pretty soon and get the low-down on who's there and how they're running the show.

Used to be able to do a lot of swapping and trading instead of cash and carry - I hope it still goes like that!

What size V8? I can talk to Dee - if there's a deal on a sweet engine nearby, I bet he already knows the lowdown and skinny on it.

He's the local 'Stang Car Guru....

My 1st choice would be a 351 w/heavy duty OD (3 or 5 spd.) The best choice would be a 302. I really would like to keep the Y block, but Ford changed so much after 54 (and most of the good stuff didn't come until 57) that I can't find anything for mine (ie distributor, carb, and OD,s). I do have a cool 2.4 bbl. set up, but what nut would run 2 odd looking, big honking Holley "teapot" carbs on a 239 cu engine? I bought it at a yard sale for $10. But wouldn't it look cool!

Sounds like you have some goodies to trade there....

but okay - say for instance Dee can track down a 302 in decent shape. Likely it might be EFI freindly, and that means better MPG.

Should I ask in that direction?
