1991 F250 Taillights won't work

I'm in the process of buying this truck and I am going to have to get it inspected, but I can't get the taillights, the parking lights or the roof lights to work, I tested all the fuses with a continuity tester, they are all good. Everything else seems to work fine. It is a 1991 F250 xl with the 460 motor. I don't have much mechanical knowledge, so if anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

thanks,

Jake

I know of two people on here who have had the wire feeding the running light part of the headlight switch melt and go bad. That would be the place to check next. Pull the headlight switch, and you should have a tan/white wire feeding the switch from the fuses you just checked. See if you have power on this wire. If you don't, trace it back till you find the problem.

The power comes in on the tan/white, and leaves the switch to feed the running lights on a brown wire. If you had power on the tan/white coming in, see if you have power going out of the switch on the brown wire when you pull the headlight switch to on.
