retrofitting delay wipers dont work

my 84 f250 doesnt have delay wipers and i got the switch and module from another FTE member. the problem is that when i plug in the delay switch and module into my wire harness, the wipers only work on high, stop on low speed, and dont delay. from high to off the wipers work and park, but from high to low the wipers stop the moment i switch to low, no parking. the module makes no noises. i took apart the module and found nothing visably wrong. i bypassed the module and connected the delay switch to my harness and it still does the same thing as above. the delay module has the following code: E7TF-17C476-AB it also has the following numbers above the code:8Z3 260 8G06. the wipers work fine when i use the original non-delay switch.

is it the module or a wiring problem?

It could be the switch too. I will see if I can find a schematic so you can test the switch, if you have a meter. Do you have a meter with a ohms scale?

yes i have a meter w/ ohm scale.
i also tried a new switch and it didnt change a thing.

did you remember to ground the delay box?? if not grounded, it will not work properly

i grounded the wire off the switch and the mounting tab on the module. but that still doesnt explain why i dont have a low speed.

what does the module have to do with low speed? when i plugged the delay switch into my harness(no module in the circuit), it acted the same way as when i have the module in the circuit:high speed works,low speed freezes wipers and off parks the wipers correctly.

The difference is the module interrupts the low circuit for the delay. There is no delay feature on high. Both regular wipers and intermittent wipers hook the high speed straight to the 12v red.

Turn the interval switch to intermittent. You should have continuity between the red wire terminal going into the switch, and the darkgreen wire terminal.

You have a delay adjustment. Hook your ohmmeter to the orange and the yellow/red terminals of the switch. As you adjust the time delay, your meter should slowly move up and down. This is a variable resistor inside the switch.

Turn the switch to low. You should have continuity between the red wire terminal and the brown/white wire terminal.

Turn the switch to high. You should continuity between the red wire terminal and the darkblue/orange wire terminal and also the brown/white terminal.

The red is 12v power

The brown/white is low speed. In this case it tells the module to override and not to time the wipers.

The darkgreen is the interval signal. This tells the module to activate the timing feature.

The orange and the yellow/red are the timing control pot.

The darkblue/orange is the high speed wire.

In both cases, the black/white is the washer pump feed.

thanks franklin2, i looked on the harness from the module where it connects to the delay switch and my colors dont match the ones you specified. my wires are as follows, going clockwise from the top center: red, blue/orange, black/pink, black, black/white, black/green.
blue/orange:high speed
redower
black/green:low speed
black/white:washer
do you know anywhere to pick up another module beside the junkyard?
i read somewhere that the relay inside should be clicking for the delay setting,mine doesnt do anything so could the relay just need changing or is there something wrong with the diodes/cap/resistors? i looked inside and there was nothing to indicated that the diodes/cap/resistor had given up a ghost and all the connections looked good.

There are some Ford parts dealers on the web that have a delay relay(I assume this is the delay module) for around $100.00
