Hello,
My 00 X (v10) won't start after I drive it and shut it off. Turn the key and nothing, no noise, not trying just dead. It's been hot here 90's. It happened the other day and after about 5 mins. of waiting it started up again, but today I had to have it towed to the dealer, and they can't figure it out.....I did a search and saw some similar threads talking about cam positon sensor, neutral safety switch, IAC. Has any one had this problem? 60,000 miles on it. Help.....

 

Obviously something is getting hot and once it cools a bit it will crank/start.

Since everything else works (meaning the battery is good) I would suspect a bad starter or solenoid first. Just hard to bench test on at the same temp as it would be sitting that close to the engine and exhaust.

 

Just a thought...When you turn the key to on, not to start...Can you hear the fuel pump kicking on pumping fuel to the engine? It should sound like a small humm for a couple of seconds....

Just got it back after 2 days at the dealership. They said it was a bad starter relay and replaced for 160.00 bucks (part was only 35). I'll let you know if it works. Thanks for the replies.

 

Hmmm...relay. Figured it had to be something like that.

A bad fuel pump would still allow the engine to crank.
