Also, when a sub is rated at 1100 watts peak they're usually trying to market to the kids that don't know a thing about sound systems.
Im a kid, but i know a little about sound systems. im looking for a little bang for a little buck. id like to stay under 150 with it, if i could. also, does they type of radio or tape player or cd player matter as far as how much the woffer will thump? i have a couple radios lying around that arent being used. One is a radio/tape deck out of a chrysler, one is a radio/tape deck out of a older chevy, and one is a radio out of a newer old ford. do you think any of these will do what i need them to do, or should i start looking around for a new radio. i have a small audiovax stereo graphic equalizer booster 20W + 20W for boosting up speakers, i think this would make a lesser model stereo pump out more of what a highend would.

Compared to the other things out there, Sony doesn't stand a chance lol. Your P5 is better than a lot of things, but you could of gotten better.
Also I said usually that's who they're trying to market to. You will also see subs that say 1200 Watts at a pawn shop. Then when you get to reading the papers they're like 200 wRMS, 85 dB sensitivity, and frequencies are impared, on top of all of this the sound they "produce" is horrible in SQ. I'm not saying they're all like that but I'm saying a lot are.
The headunit you pick will change the way the music sounds. Some have no built in equilizers at all and just have a loud setting. Some have extensive 7-band EQ's. As far as going to a stock cassette player.. you could do this, but I don't think you'll enjoy it very much. If it were me, I'd go with a new headunit (check eBay) that has pre-amp outputs and all those goodies. They're not too expensive.
What are you wanting the $150 to cover? Amp and sub(s)?
330 rms!!!! I seriously doubt 150$ will cover amp/wiring harness/and subs. $150 will either cover subs (maybe), or an amp (maybe). You might get lucky on E-bay and find an amp/sub combo that hasent been bid on yet, or you can do one of those last second bids. I'd check on E-bay for amp/sub combos, and build the box yourself, the woods only like 14 bucks for a huge peice of it...and the gas to go drive to get the wood is 2.50 a gallon!

I just bought an Eclipse 4 channel amp (110x4@2ohms RMS), a 10" Eclipse sub, and box on eBay for $49. I just slipped in at the last moment and hit "bid".

Haha I don't remember, I need to contact the seller and ask where they're at!! I put in my max bid at $49, cuz I didn't want them really bad, and that was my only bid lol. Then I get an email that says Congratulations! lol
The serial number is Z9504799.
Model: 36401
55 wRMSx4 @ 4ohms and 110wRMSx4 @ 2ohms.
The sub is the 86100.4: 150 W RMS, 300 W Max. The sub's mounting gasket is torn up.
Ebay #: 5794078207 if you care to take a peek.
If I don't like them I'll put them back out on eBay lol.
The guy is in Texas. Im sure with gas prices, the S&H will be $400. I never did like 4 channel amps, probobly because I fried the last one i bought. I tried to hook it up at night (another bright idea from schmid). I was mad because I discovered it didn't have a hi/lo filter, and i hate hearing anything but bass from the subs, so I was all mad and disconnecting it and somehow fried it, I think the power wire sat on the ground wire for a second. Then I tried hooking it up to my buddies subs, and nothing happend, so I threw it at a telephone pole at about 55 mph. I missed and hit a tree. that was a waste of 100 bucks. I'm likeing my 600 watt xplod amp. 150 bucks, bass boost, hi/lo filter, all that good stuff. and I know you like Sony products and think Xplod is the best most high quality brand in the car audio dept.
I need to get a extended cab so i can just get some cheap 15's and buld a huge box for them. I hate the idea of my 10's being in a thin box.
I bet you could put them back on Ebay and sell them for more than 50 bucks, If not Email the guy with the 2nd highest bid and sell them to him.

I've already paid S&H and paid for the item. I emailed him asking what the deal is.
You're problem isn't 4-channel amps in general, it was your certain one. This one has hi/low filters too. I'm just using this to power the front and back speakers. And then I'm getting a/d/s components that will be run off their own amp (2 channel - most likely Eclipse bc of SQ).
You crack me up man, Xplod(e) being best, most high quality brand.. yea. Why do you want 15's?
If I don't like the amp I'll relist it on eBay and mach up the specs on it, I could get it to sell for probably $100.
Hey, my Xplods are yet to explode on me! when/if they do, i have a free 1 year warrnty. as a matter of fact, I'm thinking about borrowing a huge amp from 1 of my friends, and just blowing up my 10's, just so i can get new ones! I'll tell them my 600 watt amp blew tham... Man thats a good idea, I have a new agenda for tommorrow! I dont feel like driving to best buy though.
I dont know why I want 15's, prolly since everyone I know with 15's system just blows the doors off! Im serious, I know someone with 3 cheap rip off brand 15's, in big boxes, and a 600 watt amp, (all wired bridged to this amp), (pretty ghetto set up), (infact, the owner is pretty ghetto himself), (im wondering how his amp hasn't over heated or fried yet), (this whole system is prolly "hot") , and it is rediculously loud. I mean its loud! But since I dont have a extended cab, this wont happen till I get my 02 f250 next year (my grandparents are l-o-a-d-e-d!), (grandpa has had this f250 for a year now, and he wants a new truck), (I'm not complaining), (I cant wait), (im putting loud flowmasters on it and wasteing gas like none-other), (that 5.4l is gonna go thru hell for a few days).

Seriously man, invest the money you'd spend on 15's and get 2 really nice 12's. My friend down the street has a 12" Memphis in a large ported box. He's running 600 wRMS and last week he blew the back window off his GMC Jimmy.
Yea, all the tech guys at best buy say 15's are a pain because they are "innacurate" or something like that. I'll prolly put in 2 12's come to think of it. Prolly some Alpines or something. If I still have my 10's, if they dont "explode", I'll prolly put them in a large sealed box, I guess they arent good in ported boxes. But I'm keepin that amp for a while I know that. I'm wondering if its possible to run more than 3 subs on a 2 channel amp...and it wont be harmful on the amp. I dont know, these girls gone wild commercials will have me spending all my money when I turn 18 in a few days...lol
Oh yea Slash31938, have you some to a conclusion on what you are gonna buy yet?

You should look in your manual and see if ported boxes are recommended, and also see the size recommendations for sealed enclosures. You could run 3 subs on a single channel amp if you daisy chain them. Haha GGW. I thought when I turned 18 I was gonna buy some of those, but then figured with that money I could make better use of it.
Yea, that GGW stuff is tempting to buy, but my friends already got a few, so why buy when you can borrow lol. I already looked in the manual, it said .97 cu. ft. of volum in a sealed box, and something like .67 cu. ft. in a sealed box. Oh yea, whats daisy chaning? I've never heard of that.

no, i really havent got my sights set on what a want to get yet. yall know of a good setup to get? i was thinking of maybe getting two 8 inch subs, since i have heard they are better in a single cab, plus i dont have much room back there. what kind of amp and woofers should i get if i want two 8 inchers? if somebody can come up with a "shopping list" of what i should get, it would be much appreciated.
