Full recharge, still blows hot as ever

i just spent 50 bucks recharging my 95 f150 300 and it still blows hot air, i have a suspicion that the cluch isnt working, because when i turn it on or off, the compressor makes no noise, and the RPMs stay the same when i switch to A/C. i dont know what to do.

if the compressor is not running then how did you fill it? did you pull a vacuum on it?

You MUST pull a vacuum. Then you fill it with freon. If the 'pressor clutch is not working, see if you can turn the front of the compressor with your hand (motor OFF) then check fuses, etc. The main thing is to pull a vacuum with a vacuum pump. If u filled it without obtaining a vacuum, you have wasted your money.

Any luck? I assume you had a leak repaired and then recharged the system? I don't know exactly how your truck is set up but you may have a couple of switches and a coil that engages the clutch. If you have a simple multimeter then you can take a couple quick readings. You may have a couple safety switches. One could be in the discharge side and will will be the high pressure cutout. The switch will be in the line coming from the compressor and going into the condenser. You can take a resistance reading across the terminals on the switch. You may also have a cycling switch which cuts the compressor in and out on low pressure. If either read open (no resistance) with the unit not running then the clutch will not kick in. If you think one of the switches may be bad you can test by installing a jumper across the terminal holes in the plugs associated with the different switches. Turn the switch on to run the a/c and listen to see if the compressor starts using the things you were checking for in the earlier post. Turn it off shortly after. If it starts do not attempt to run it that way, this is only for troubleshooting. It is a place to start.
