Gotta agree.
Turbos take alot of fabrication almost all of it custom backyard engineering. Even if you can find it in a kit, it's still not going to just drop on. Still if you're interested try ebay. Search for turbocharger in ebay motors. Lots of them for sale there.
If you want ease of installation - nitrous.
Don't wanna fill the bottle - supercharger.
Sorry but them's the facts man.

He's right, nitrous is easy, superchargers are great, but, turbos will make more usable power than any blower will at a much wider rpm band if you match it right to your motor. I have a 78' f150 w/a 4.9l and I went to the junkyard and found a turbo out of a dodge daytona, it took a lot of fabrication so unless you have access to a good welder, a pipe bender, and a cutting torch, don't try it, your truck will be apart for a very long time! But on the positive side, it's well worth the effort after you finish the job!! Good luck!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Oct-02 AT 11:23 PM (EST)]For more low end power, a roots type blower is king, for mid-range/topend power, a cetrifical type blower is better, as is a turbo.
You can get some low end power out of a turbo, but you will have to run 2 small ones on a 460. If you use one big one, it will have turbo lag, and take a bit to spool up.
Don't forget, you will have to run fairly low compression if you want to keep head gaskets on it and not have to run racing fuel 24/7. Somewhere around 7.5 to 8.0:1.
PS Try a diesel shop for a good turbo.

thanks for the advise. with that nitrous i still don't like but for the super charger sounds ok. is there a way that i can squeeze that (under) my hood? and can i keep the edelbrock carb and intake? i know i need to make linkages, pullys, and brakets for stuff but can i keep what i have and just add the super charger with out it sticking out the hood. but it is a daily driver and it will be operated in access of -60 below to +95 degress, Minnesota ya know. thanks for the info! what year and engine did that daytona have, and did it give it a big increase in h.p. thanks

I am not sure what year the turbo was out of, I'm thinking a mid to late eighties daytona. I don't have any pics yet, I will make sure to post them asap for all of you to google over!! It made a big enough difference in horsepower for me to do it over and over again to each one of these old trucks I'd ever own, or any other vehicle for that matter!

>yeah. i'd be rather interested in that too.. anyone know
>of any sites with some good info, and theory about turbos??
Search for junkyard turbos, or something similar. There are a couple of sites and message boards dedicated to creating jy turbo systems.

There's a site out there about a guy that crammed a 460 into a Ford Farimont and slapped on a twin turbo system. Pretty incredible...
Last I looked, the site hadn't been updated for quite some time, but it has some good pictures.

And here's another one...

But really, who needs the turbocharge a 460? If you get a decent build on it, you should be around 400-500 hp without messing around with forced induction. The tq and hp curve will be more useable, and it will save you time and money.
